It's Going To Take Some Time To Get Used To The Orioles New Manager Having The Thickest Boston Accent We've Ever Heard
Whoa....was NOT expecting that thick of an accent to come out of the Orioles' new manager's mouth! Meet Craig Albernaz, your new head skipper for the Birds and owner of maybe the thickest Boston accent you've ever heard in your life. R.A. has a thick one himself and I think this would make him blush! Albernaz joins the Orioles after 2 years of being Stephen Vogt's right hand man in Cleveland following a stint in San Francisco as their bullpen coach. He's bringing that accent and a winning pedigree to Baltimore and I'm pretty jazzed up about it. Maybe we can't understand half the words he's saying, but he knows how to connect with the youngsters and knows what it takes to win. From all accounts he's a wicked smaht baseball mind, something that the O's needed.
My pals Andy Kostka and Paul Mancano did a podcast for the Baltimore Banner breaking down the signing and they told a story about Albernaz's time in San Francisco that included Craig recording the voiceovers for the pitchcom device. His accent was so thick that Joc Pederson admitted he couldn't understand what pitches Albernaz was calling. Just a hilariously thick accent, almost sounds like a "Family Guy" clip or something, maybe a scene from "The Departed". We're not used to those accents down here, Baltimore has its own accent and we can barely understand that one so handling 2 thick speaking methods is going to be a challenge. I mean listen to him in that catching instructional video, all I can imagine is him in some movie with Ben Affleck trying to rob a bank or something. Big time Mr. Portnoy vibes, can't wait to hear him talk about how he couldn't get an Ubah or how upset he's going to be when he tries cream of crab instead of chowdah. Welcome to Charm City Craig, we'll see you at Camden Yahds.
