Albert Pujols' 2nd Interview With The Padres Lasted 9 And A Half Hours Which Caused Him To Miss His World Series Coverage
I'm sorry, does that say 9 1/2 hours? Longer than a high school day? With all due respect to the Padres, what in the hell are you doing in an 9 1/2 hour interview? That's no longer a formal interview, that's a hangout session. They were just chilling in a room, just no way an interview can be that long. Shit was about to turn into a sleepover. You're not getting any good information out of a guy if you've been talking to him for 9 hours, I'm sure his brain was mush after the 5th hour. I mean what could they be doing in there? That's enough time to play a full game of Monopoly! I'm also curious about the food set up and situation, how'd they handle that? You could fit 2 full meals into that interview, the rare double dip. I truly can't imagine what went on for that long because it's simply impossible to sit and talk for that long in an interview setting, someone would lose their mind. But not only was it a long ass interview, it also may have prevented Pujols from getting to another gig he had on the calendar.
San Diego Union - Tribune reporter Kevin Acee wrote that Pujols was supposed to be part of MLB Network's coverage in LA before Game 4 but he couldn't make it to Los Angeles from San Diego where the interview was. He no-showed work because he was interviewing for another job! What a move there! Was it a politeness thing, like maybe he didn't want to interrupt? Maybe he is so polite and didn't want to look at his watch and say "hey guys, this has been great....but I gotta get up to Los Angeles and that 405 is gonna suck!". Or is it possible that this may have been kidnapping by AJ Preller and the Padres? Maybe we need to ask Pujols if he was being held against his will, it's very Michael Scott and the pizza delivery kid vibes. I hope the Padres do sign Albert to be their manager so at his introduction press conference we can hear a reporter ask him what exactly went on in that meeting.
But seriously, how do you meet with someone for almost 10 hours....and we still don't know the Padres decision? You should have a pretty good guess if that is your guy or not. You were with him for almost half a day, do you really need more time to make the decision? Or maybe it's Pujols holding it up, and again if you're sitting with a team for that long and still don't know if it's the right move, it's probably not. Interviews suck already, no one wants to be in one for that long.
Ps. Are Cardinals fans mad at this? It's weird Pujols is parading around for jobs and flirting with other teams, that seems like an easy way to help fix the fanbase down there. Fire Oli Marmol and bring in Pujols....he's sitting right there! No brainer to me.
