Wait, Did Yankees Pitcher Cam Schlittler Really Just Issue An AI Apology To Red Sox Fans And The Entire City Of Boston?
We do not accept your apology.
That's what this is, right? An apology to Boston and Red Sox fans from Cam Schlittler?
This Cam Schlittler?
And this Cam Schlittler??
Oh, and this Cam Schlittler???
Cam is supposedly from Boston. At this point, I'm not sure what to believe. Because anyone from Boston would have known that if they called out Boston, Boston would fucking push back.
And I'm guessing that might be what's going on here. Cam lives in the Boston area in the offseason. I'd wager that maybe he's been getting some shit - and rightfully so - from Boston fans the last few weeks. Again, this was the man saying "Fuck Boston" a month ago.
Someone in his life suggested that he take to social media and issue an "I'm sorry" to Boston, hoping it would make it better.
It won't. At least it shouldn't.
"Anyone who knows me knows how highly I speak of Boston and how much I love the city. I knew how I'd be received starting that game, but I didn't expect people from the area where I grew up to attack my family. Criticism is something I've always handled well, and that stuff doesn't bother me — it just caught me off guard. I know I've been vocal since that start, but I truly respect Boston and that organization. A rivalry is a rivalry, and my loyalty is with New York for as long as I'm here."
And now he's blaming his actions on fans who allegedly went after his family. As I have been trying to tell my kids repeatedly recently, take some personal responsibility and accept full accountability for your own actions and decisions. If you're a fan yelling at Cam's family out in public, don't do that, obviously.
But no one forced Cam to troll my friend Lucy Burdge after the Yankees beat the Red Sox. That was Cam's call.

No one made him attack Boston, just like no one made him post his very heartfelt apology on the Internet.
I mean, this is just a young man pouring out his heart to the city he grew up in—the city he loves.
No PR team. No help. No…oh, what's what? He used Chat GPT to craft this love letter????
I'm a Grok guy, not a Chat GPT guy, but this doesn't look good. Using AI in your Sorry Note to Boston is not a great look.
Will this earn him fewer cat calls next time he goes to a Bruins game? Maybe. I guess one less fan might yell at him at the North End this offseason. I could see that.
But should Red Sox fans accept this AI Apology from the newest member of The Rivalry? Hell. No. And when he takes the mound at Fenway next season, fans should let him hear it.
You're deep in this thing now, Cam. And no AI Apology is going to get you out.
