The Braves Banned Freddie Freeman From Doing the Worm for a Decade Because He Was Getting Too Much Air
Freddie Freeman took over the internet this week when he celebrated the Dodgers' second consecutive World Series title with what has to be a 99th percentile performance of the worm. He's only slightly better at hitting a baseball than this iconic dance move.
He's so good, in fact, the Braves apparently had to ban him from doing it as an 18-year-old because he was capable of getting too much air and was at risk of injuring himself.
It sucks this talent was hidden from us for this long, but I can see why the Braves nipped this in the bud. If the fellas in rookie ball got to see that too many times, a Freeman worm would be demanded after every win and it only would have been a matter of time before he ended up with some sort of ridiculous injury that could have derailed one of the best careers by a first baseman we've ever seen.
I guess we can now add "flawless worm" to Freeman's accomplishment list of three-time World Series Champion, National League MVP, World Series MVP and universally beloved superstar. It may even be above one or two of those.
