A Drone Helps Find A Missing Old Who Got Lost In A Corn Field
RANDOLPH COUNTY, N.C. – An elderly woman was found by a drone in a cornfield in North Carolina after the local county’s sheriff’s office investigated a missing person’s report.
The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded Sunday morning and launched a search for the woman using a drone and K9.
The search was slowed due to difficult terrain and a cornfield. However, the drone pilot was able to locate the missing person by air within 25 minutes.
Technology is truly wonderful. I love going to a corn maze as much as the next person. While the corn fields are a family affair, I know that when you are out there, you gotta keep an eye on Nana. If you don’t, she’ll wander off looking for the perfect ear of corn, and you’ll lose her in a heartbeat. Her hearing is wacky because of the age, and she always forgets to charge her “ears.” She calls her hearing aides “ears” which is downright adorable, but it’s nevertheless frustrating that she won’t charge them at night no matter how many times you tell her.
Luckily, Nana sheltered in place which allowed the drone to find her. When you finally get told that Nana has been found and that she’s safe, you can’t help but think it’s because she refused to wear the sexy corn costume that the rest of the family’s women wore.
Sure, the pictures would have been incredible. Nana all dressed up as a sexy ear of corn. LOL. But, she probably would have caught a cold which is dangerous at her age and been more camouflaged. Not good!
Who wouldn’t want a picture like that for a family treasure but safety is paramount? You’ll never admit it, but deep down inside you’re glad she opted to wear her purple pantsuit to the corn fields. While a touch dressy, it could have saved her life. Think about that the next time you wanna make fun of pantsuits. Pantsuits, they’re the life jacket of the farm.
