Pay Per View Is DEAD: Paramount+ Acquires UFC Rights For $7.7B
Paramount+ just dropped an absolute haymaker on the sports media world, inking a seven-year, $7.7 BILLION deal with the UFC. Translation: every single one of the UFC’s 43 live events a year — from the 13 stacked “marquee” cards to the 30 Fight Nights — is now living rent-free on Paramount+. No extra charge. No “pay $80 after already paying for ESPN+” scam. No more Dana White stealing your beer money on fight night. CBS will even air some of the big ones, but ESPN’s pay-per-view chokehold? Dead and buried.
Wouldn't it be cool if all these companies cut a deal and bundled everything together and we just had to pay one monthly charge and we'd get everything? And while we are at it, it'd be cool if we could get rid of the delays and buffering that sometimes happens with streaming. I know it's unrealistic. We'd probably need to run wires or cables or something to each household. How impractical! Maybe one day though...
